So just when I thought I was getting pretty good at my cross dismounts/remounts, I just had to crash. This was on the dismount which I had (or thought) no problems with. I was practicing for tomorrow’s race and did the classic swing my leg over to step down, but oh! I forgot to clip out. Ouch! So I start riding again determined to dismount correctly from here on out and I crash again. This time on the remount. I was so focused on keeping my speed, that when I went to get back on the bike, I jumped into (the goal is to jump onto the bike) the bike and went down again in a tangle of limbs and pedals. Needless to say, I rode home after that. Just when I was getting cocky, of course! Tomorrow, I’ll HTFU for the race! Or, perhaps I should borrow my son’s training wheels?
Damage: Bicycle-unharmed. Rachel-6 bruises, 1 four inch piece of missing skin on right quad, 1 sore left hip and butt, 1 sore left knee, 1 long tire mark from ankle to belly, 1 humbled ego
